“The Missing Link”
Across the African continent, a profound paradox exists. We possess some of the most sophisticated Public Financial Management (PFM) laws in the world. We have dedicated Auditors-General who work tirelessly to track every cent. Yet, year after year, the same narratives of “unaccounted funds” and “budget leakages” dominate our headlines.
The problem is not a lack of rules; it is a systemic gap.
There is a gap between the auditor’s report and the administrator’s action.
There is a gap between the technical budget and the citizen’s understanding.
The African Centre for Financial Accountability (ACFA) was established to be the bridge across these divides. We believe that when public money is managed with integrity, schools are built, roads are paved, and lives are saved.
We don’t just identify what is wrong; we provide the education and tools to make it right. At ACFA, we are turning the page from “Finding Corruption” to “Building Systems”.
